How To Construct your Balloon Display
Step 1
Begin by inflating 12 of the larger 12" balloons, ensure they're inflated to an equal size. We advise approx. 10" as we don't want to over inflate them (approx. 15 pumps of a hand help balloon pump).
Once you have inflated all 12 balloons, take 2 balloons and knot them together so you have a pair (do this with all of them so you end up with 6 pairs)
Step 2
With your paired balloons, take 2 pairs and intertwine them so they create a cluster of 4 balloons. Do this by placing the necks (knotted ends) of one pair across the other and push the balloons down so they form a cross shape. Finally, grip one balloon from each pair and rotate over into opposite directions until they change positions and the balloons lay flat.
Step 3
Repeat the process with the remaining inflated 12" balloons so that you end up with 3 clusters of 4 balloons in total.
Step 4
Inflate 8 of the smaller 5" balloons to approximately 4" (again we don't want to over inflate).
Take 2 balloons and knot them together so you have a pair (do this with all of them so you end up with 4 pairs)
Step 5
With your paired 5" balloons, take 2 pairs and intertwine them so they create a cluster of 4 balloons. (repeat step 2 to make 2 clusters of 4 balloons)
Step 6
Place a 4 cluster of your 5" balloons on top of the larger 12" 4 cluster so they're offset and nestle into the dips. Take your ribbon and wrap multiple times around the middle of the balloon clusters ensuring they're tied together.
Step 7
Repeat this process alternating between larger 12" and smaller 5" clusters making sure you press down on the centre of the balloon clusters each time you wrap the ribbon around the cluster beneath. Once complete, cut the excess ribbon and turn the balloon stack on its side (lengthways).
Step 8
Take one of the spare balloons provided (12" or 5" will work just fine). Fill the balloon with water until it fits in the palm of your hand and tie a knot. (This water balloon is used to add weight to create stability to your structure). Tie the ribbon to the knot end of the water balloon.
Step 9
Tie your water balloon to the base of the structure by wrapping the ribbon snugly around 2 centre 12" balloons. This will keep your balloon design sturdy and upright.
Step 12
Step 10
Inflate your foil design and number (they have flat circular openings where you can either insert a balloon hand pump or a straw to inflate). Once inflated take 2 separate pieces of ribbon and secure to each foil design and number.
Step 11
Secure both foil and number to the top of the balloon stack by tying your ribbons tightly around the latex balloons. If they are secured well, they should stand upright, we have included glue dots if you need extra help.
Step 12
Finally, you can secure the small latex balloons filling any spaces needed to finish your design off - glue dots help here.
Stand back and admire your handy work - well done!
